"There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more." - Lord Byron

Materials:

  • Pheasant Feathers

  • Japanese Willow Branches

  • Pine Cones

  • Deer moss

  • Cork Bark

  • Reed Pods

  • Fossilized wood

  • Eucalyptus Pods

This piece was inspired by the pheasant feathers I found at the San Francisco flower mart.  They lent a quiet elegance to the rusticity and texture of the pinecones and the assorted tree barks.  The work is a study in contrasts between the rigidity of the Japanese willow branches and the softness and ever so light movement of the feathers.
