"Pick up a sunflower and count the florets running into its centre, or count the spiral scales of a pine cone or a pineapple, running from its sides to the top, and you will find an extraordinary truth:  recurring numbers, ratios and proportions."  Charles Jencks

Materials:

  • Cork bark
  • Peacock feathers
  • Mini pinecones
  • Chalice pods
  • Wired beads
  • Rockcloud natural titanium
  • Moss

This particular piece was inspired by three beautiful nuggets I found at "Paxton's Gate", one of my favorite curiosities' purveyors in the Mission District of San Francisco.  I knew I would utilize them with something of equal phosphorescence and brilliance of color.  Peacock feathers became the obvious choice as did the small blue and green beads I painstakingly stranded onto small segments of wire and attached to dainty mini-pinecones.
