"A beach is not only a sweep of sand but shells of sea creatures the sea glass, the seaweed, the incongruous objects washed up by the ocean."  — Henry Grunwald

Materials:

  • Pumpkinos
  • Dyed lemon leaves
  • Birch bark
  • Oak bark
  • Moss
  • Rose hips
  • Brazilian watermelon tourmaline slices

The Watermelon Tourmaline slices have a reddish pink center and light green edges.  As an inspiration they called for a piece of their own (as did the chunk of seaweed my granddaughter Zoe found at Stinson Beach two years ago).  Surprisingly, the Tourmaline slices blended into the piece so famously, that they became difficult to spot.  An occasional glimmer, when the light is just right, gives these precious bits away.  How many do you see?
